Shaider (Uchuu Keiji Shaider) was a Japanese tokusatsu series that became a huge hit in the Philippines during the early 1990s. Originally aired in Japan from 1984 to 1985, it was the third installment of Toei’s Metal Hero series. The show followed Alexis del Mundo (localized name for Dai Sawamura), an archaeologist chosen to become Shaider, a space sheriff tasked with protecting Earth from the evil Fuuma Empire. With his partner Annie, Shaider fought villains in futuristic battles that captivated Filipino audiences. Dubbed in Tagalog, the show introduced the term "Pulis Pangkalawakan" (Space Sheriff) to Filipino pop culture, making Shaider a household name alongside other tokusatsu icons like Bioman and Maskman.
